CELEBRITIES FRAGRANCES LIST GETTING HUGE, HOW TO CHOOSE A CELEBRITY PERFUME TO OFFER AS CHRISTMAS GIFT


If listening to celebrities music, watching celebrities movies and series, or wearing celebrities clothes is not enough for you, you can now also spray celebrities fragrances.

Every year hundreds of celebrity-endorsed fragrances are launched on the market, and last month, Kate Moss became the latest celebrity to lend her name to a perfume launched especially for Christmas 2007.

A long time ago Elizabeth Taylor was the first to launch her White Diamonds fragrance, in 1991, while Unilever-owned Coty kicked off the recent surge with the launch of Jennifer Lopez’s fragrance, Glow by JLo, in 2002, and lately Jade Goody and Mariah Carey perfumes.

And following Rapper Sean Combs alias Puff Diddy who has shown that fragrances and rap sells, rapper Shawn Carter better known as Jay-Z is now collaborating with Elizabeth Arden to create his own line of cosmetics which will include cosmetic and beauty products as well as male and female fragrances will launch alongside his popular Rocawear brand.

But few celebrities fragrances meet success, and few are even expected to survive beyond the first year, because old brands have to be discarded to make way for new ones, and quite fast.

Boutique fragrances are another emerging trend, and stores as Les Senteurs and Roja Dove’s Haute Parfumerie are new shops offering niche perfumes for women who are seeking a more exclusive scent, and fashion houses such as Prada, Hermes and Dior are also creating private collections of perfumes with restricted availability, only available in the brands' own shops.

Christmas is when most of the fragrance flasks are offered as almost one in two women will receive fragrance as a Christmas gift, and few companies share this market, Coty which owns brands such as Calvin Klein being the biggest, followed by L’Oreal's which owns Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, and Diesel fragrances.

Famous fashion house Chanel is not as big as Coty or L’Oreal but owns three of the top five brands, among which Chanel No 5 perfume is the most famous one.

So celebrities fragrances list is getting huge, and you will have to find your own criteria to choose the perfume that you want to offer as Christmas gift to the one you love.
